I've been watching the show "It's Not Easy Being Green" which is currently on BBC-Canada, and it's full of interesting ideas -- because of the show, I've been inspired to build a greenhouse next spring. Has anyone out there built a greenhouse? How do the greenhouse kits sold by Canadian Tire, etc, compare to a home-made greenhouse? Any information would be heartily appreciated!

Hi there,

I had a greenhouse for years when I still lived in Sayward. That was the only way to have strawberries, not so much temperature wise but for 'pest' protection. Before that, between the birds and the slugs, was slim picking.

Anyway, my advise for greenhouses is to look out for wind resistance and ventilation. It can get easily too hot when the sun comes out but even more important, here on the coast, is ventilation for mold prevention.
